Following the success of our MK2 model, which has sold over 12,000 units, we set out to address a key challenge faced by woodworkers: owning multiple track saws and rail lengths without a universal, precision-fit square. The MK3 ULTRA Rail Square® delivers exactly that - a single, universal solution engineered for accuracy, versatility, and reliability across the most popular track saw systems.

We have received many reports stating that the MK3 Rail Square works with the Evolution G2, but we have not fully tested this.

Please note: For DeWalt, remove the splinter guard fully or by at least 150mm from the square end.

Each square is CNC-machined from aerospace-grade aluminium, anodised black for durability, and supplied with a calibration report to guarantee precision straight out of the box.

For even more versatility, the ULTRA MAX Extender adds an extra 340mm of reference edge, ideal for large sheet cutting or extended project setups.

Another quality item from Benchdogs

I already had a rail square from another brand. I was never entirely convinced of its "squareness" and didn't like the way it attached to my Makita tracks. After some deliberation I got one of these. As usual for Benchdogs it is beautifully made, the mechanism for attaching it to the tracks is reassuringly tight and positive and it can fit on basically any of the tracks from common brands of saw. Once its attached to the track its attached to the track and doesn't wobble around or move at all.

For my first couple of cuts I was a little dismayed as it seemed to be giving the same results as my other track square. I was sufficiently convinced by Benchdogs reputation and the certificate of squareness that they send along with the item that it had to be square and it was either me or my measuring tools that were off. As it so happens none of my "squares" that I was using to check cuts with are actually square, even ones I had previously thought were ok. I went ahead, trusted it and dressed off the manufacturer edges from a full sheet of plywood, squaring it up with both this square and a set of Benchdogs Parallel Guides, and it came out perfectly square. Ironically I think this also means that there was nothing wrong with my old rail square but this one is just a far better tool.

Couldn't be more straightforward to use, put the knurled knobs in the right hole for your track, slide it on and tighten up the latch and snap it shut. The lip that it has to hold the square on the workpiece is invaluable. Especially for longer cuts I have found there is a bit of a knack to getting a track to sit square, you kind of have to lift the far end of the track up, ensure the square is properly butted up against the reference edge then carefully drop the track down, the lip assists greatly in this. If you don't and just slide the track around until the square butts up then I have found it can move slightly, usually resulting in a slightly obtuse cut.

Only issue now is I need to get a reference square that I can actually trust!
