Product Description

Easy Access Track Hinge

The Benchdog Hinge Dogs system is a smart solution for anyone working in tight spaces. It allows your guide track to hinge open, giving you effortless access to place or remove your workpiece without having to lift or remove the track entirely. Perfect for setups where your work table sits close to a wall, the Hinge Dog makes working in confined spaces much easier.

Designed to work seamlessly with our fence system, it enables the hinge track connector to sit close to your fence while maintaining full functionality and stability.

Setting up is simple: when positioning the dogs with your workpiece, tighten the grub screw once the track is seated on the workpiece. This makes setup quick, precise, and hassle-free.

The Hinge Dog is available in 95mm and 65mm height versions. We initially introduced the 95mm version, followed by the 65mm option for customers who did not have sufficient clearance beneath their MFT top to accommodate the taller model. The 65mm version can cut material up to 25mm thick, which is more than sufficient for most sheet goods.

Proudly made in the UK from high-grade aerospace aluminium and finished with a durable black anodised coating, and the dogs are made from 303 Stainless steel the Benchdog Hinge Dog combines strength, precision, and sleek aesthetics to complement any workshop setup.

  • Please note: The first YouTube video of our Hinge Dogs shows the hinges installed without dogs; this is not correct. Please refer to the later video as above, which accurately shows the correct installation.
  • To be compatible with our Hinge Dogs, your worktop(s) must be fitted with suitable holes on both sides. As shown in the video above, these holes have been standard on our Ultra MFT worktops since 28.11.25 and were subsequently introduced across the rest of our worktop range. If your worktop was supplied by us, manufactured prior to this date, additional holes will need to be added. We can supply a 3D-printed jig to help you accurately add the required holes to your existing worktop (bought from us).

These are brilliant.

I've seen a few reviews on here saying there is too much slop in these hinge dogs, so I ordered with a little nervousness, but the flexibility of set up of these (and the price over the quad mft hinge system) won me over. I'm so glad I did: there is absolutely no slop on my setup and I have used them up to the limits of their range notching some 90mm deep stock perfectly well. There are so many variables that could affect this, so I'll list my specifics here: 18mm birch plywood top with holes using Parf system v2, reamed with UJK combined chamfer-reamer, using Mafell 800 and 1600 tracks. Everything tightly snugged up with allen keys, including the grub screws under the track. There may be a very slight tolerance range on the outer dimensions of the female bases (could be the rubber O rings, anyway in the few hundredths of a mm) as some are a very tight fit in some of my holes, all freshly reamed. Not really a problem, as a loose fit would be much worse. A few minutes making a wooden dowel tool to force them out from below solves that. The fit of the male dogs into the female dog bases is amazing: you can almost feel a vacuum. Certainly no slop there, and it solves the fight with my old v1 rail dogs getting the rail in and down and up and out. These are a pleasure to use. I don't need them because of cramped space, but I use a cutting station in the middle of my workshop and prefer the stability of a low side hinged track rather than the vertical end one of other hinge systems and I like the inherent access from all sides. I suppose all the different hex key sizes could be annoying, but get yourself one of those cheap interchangeable driver sets and problem solved. I don't really understand the point of the indents on the dogs for different thicknesses of material, since no wood comes in the stated dimensions, at all, ever, but if that floats your boat, who am I to stop anyone, though I imagine it ups the machining price? Anyways, brilliant product guys, keep it up.

Good but some improvements could be made

Seems ok, well made and easy to set up. My only issue the supplied dogs have too much play in the dog holes so some improvement needed, doesn't feel solid like the quad fence dogs, but still got square cuts on a test piece in spite of the play. Great for a setup with limited space.

These hinge dogs are excellent, transport costs are not

These hinge dogs are excellent, but it is quite costly to buy them as a EU-consumer. The transport ratings are ridiculously high, over 60% of the costs (incl. VAT). Why are these costs over € 50 for crossing the Northsea, while Chinese competitors rate less than € 10,- transport costs for similar products?
